Stationary Acoustic Working Group

The Stationary Acoustic Working Group has several ranked priorities:

  • Providing guidance for choosing appropriate auto-classifiers (range maps, buffers, etc.)

  • Providing guidance on how to process large volumes of data

  • Compiling regional lists of species which have overlapping acoustic characters

  • Ranking habitat features by species

  • Providing guidance on the process of manual vetting

  • Estimating the full cost of stationary acoustic monitoring

  • Studying detection probabilities with clutter

  • Creating a pros and cons document for full-spectrum vs zero-cross data collection

  • Establishing methods for keeping detectors safe and secure from humans/animals/weather

  • Making recommendations for working with private landowners
