NREL Explores Options for Long Term Monitoring of Migratory Tree-Roosting Bats
In Acoustic and Genetic Approaches for Informing Population Status and Trends of Migratory Tree Bats, a technical report published by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, authors evaluate methods for effectively monitoring population status and trends of migratory tree-roosting bats in order to assess the impact of wind energy production. The report concludes that consistent, long-term data collection remains the best method for identifying population-level changes and recommend adopting protocols for the North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat).
